Lazy, but I still did 34km

The lazy refers to my Saturday run starting at 7.30am instead of 6! A lie in! I met Kirsty at The Chapman’s Peak Hotel and together we ran part of the Two Oceans route. Pretty nasty weather and got soaked on the way back, but the conversation brightened it up.

46.5km training run

That is the second furthest I have ever been. Nice little jog around the Peninsula until I left a blob of my DNA on the road to Noordhoek when I stacked it again (hell, it wouldn’t be a long run if I managed to stay vertical the whole way would it?). I lost the good runners on Chapman’s Peak (no surprise there). Ended up in the sea at Hout Bay after debating with Wiebs whether it was safe from parasites and god knows what else. We jumped in anyway and kept our mouths shut.

Running notes
Route: Start at the Chapman’s Peak Hotel, over Constantia Nek, through Constantia over the M3 and meet Main Road. Turn right through Lakeside and on via Muizenburg, Kalk Bay and Fishoek. Turn right at the circle and on to Noordhoek, over Chapman’s Peak Drive and back to the Hotel
Height climbed: ?
Time started: 06.30
Total time: 5:00 (about 20 minutes for stops)
Total distance: 46.5km
Weather conditions: Southeaster straight in the face from Main Road to Fishoek
Temperature: 27˚

Right so because I got lazy and haven’t filled in my blog for 3 weeks I have no idea where I went today. I assume it involved Chappies because long runs always end up there.

Insanity is…

…running for an hour the day after you race a marathon. Most of the AAC peeps steered well clear in case they caught something. Luckily we only did Signal Hill as the wind was pumping.

Height climbed: ?
Time started: 17:55
Total time: 1:00 ish

Weather conditions: Gale force wind

Fourth race: The Peninsula Marathon 42km

Much better than Red Hill, which tells me my muscles are stronger, and my training is working. Didn’t quite get the time I wanted of 4:10, and still much slower than my PB last year (3:51), but I didn’t have to walk between water stations. Oh yeah and I did nearly vomit at the end – not due to physical exertion of course, but due to an over extended stomach. The mixture of water, Coca-Cola, Powerade, and Gu would have been fine had I not drunk a chocolate milk…

Running notes
Route: Start in Simonstown, run across the peninsula like an idiot climb loads of hills and run back
Height climbed:
Time started: 06:00
Total time: 4:13:22
Total distance: 42.2km
Average pace: 6:02 min/km
Temperature: 28˚ ish with a pure evil 50kmph gale force South Easter mostly in the face
