About Me

I’m an enthusiastic road runner, I’m not good by any stretch of the imagination, but I do love to push myself, I might bitch and moan most of the time, but its worth gritting the teeth and the fighting back the tears at 39km, to be a member of that small bunch of stupids that show up at sparrow’s fart to run marathons. Since coming to Cape Town from Blighty in 2007, I’ve been running with Atlantic Athletic Club and doing the odd race here and there. These are sandwiched between 3 month training phases and well deserved (according to me) breaks of doing pretty much nothing and eating rubbish. So for the past 12 months I’ve been psyching myself up to run the greatest road race in the world. The Comrades Marathon is 89km of pure hell, agony and disbelief, it will take me between 10 and 12 hours, I will need to hobble, walk and cry as I make my way from Pietermaritzburg to Durban on Sunday 30th May 2010 (and again on 29th May 2011, and now 1 June 2014).

In my spare time I’m a Creative Director at Quirk running a team of designers and coders doing some great digital projects for local and international clients. Whilst a fair few of the QuirkStars like to keep fit, I haven’t quite managed to sell in the joy of racing let alone long distance, you never know I still might wear them down.

    Oh , WOW !

Amazing command of the English language. Stumbled across your site while trawling for comrades tales. I entered for the 2012 run. Still trying to qualify. Hope to do so before cutoff.

Your diary makes fascinating reading. Keep it up !
